Park and Ride Sites

Park and ride is a popular option if your journey to the centre of Brighton has you catching the fastest route possible, more about plumbing with Brighton and Hove Life (brightonandhovelife.co.uk). When I moved to Brighton in 2008, I was one of those people. Having worked and lived in London for several years, my idea of travelling to Brighton by car was too far away. My brain wouldn’t compute how long it would take me to travel back to Brighton from Hove (which is actually much closer than Lewes).

If you’re an off-peak or concessionary rail user travelling to Victoria from Brighton, Lewes and Eastbourne, we have a number of sites for you to use in the city. All of our sites are well signposted, have accessible toilet facilities, pay phone and have a shelter for protecting you from the elements while you wait.  Each site is monitored by security staff during opening hours. The nearest park and ride site to the University is located at Mill Road, approximately 6 miles away.

Regular buses run from Brighton Station to serve this site. Both the 35 and 25 routes travel between Brighton Station, through central Brighton, onto the A270 Lewes Road. The 35 route terminates at Brighton Racecourse whilst the 25 continues on to terminate at Hove. Park and Ride is a scheme that allows visitors to park their cars in an area and then use the public transport system of Buses to travel into the city centre.

The scheme has been very successful in Brighton and Hove as it significantly reduces congestion, pollution and helps to improve air quality. The first Park & Ride opened in Brighton in 1991, and since then we've worked with Brighton & Hove Bus and Coach Company to establish park & ride sites at locations around the city, where local buses serve commuters to and from the Brighton mainline railway station. Park and Ride is a scheme for people who live outside the city to park their car in one of a number of easily accessible sites, then travel into the city and park as close as possible to their destination.

Bus Travel

The American Express travel centre is located at 11a Union Street, St Andrews.  Despite its name the office is not open every day of the year and is only open Monday to Friday 10am to 5pm. You can view current bus route maps and timetables from the Scottish Bus website here . We pride ourselves on our excellent facilities and the range of sports we offer. Wherever you go there will be something for everyone, whether you want champagne or coffee.

FAQS

Please keep in mind that you should not linger on the pitch after the match has ended. It takes a while before we are able to depart due to crowd congestion and crowd management procedures, so make sure you have a plan B if your plan is to leave right after the game. There will be long queues after the game to enable people to exit the stadium and travel home. This means that there will also be extended queues on your return journey so please allow time for your ticket to be checked again before boarding the train or bus.

Behaviour Guidelines

The aim of this post is not to focus on the ‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’. Nor do we wish to list a long, long, long, list of acceptable behaviours and unacceptable behaviours. They’re already there, in black and white. But if we don’t show some understanding to those supporters visiting the Amex for the first time then we can be sure that ill-informed preconceptions will abound. It's far better that our behaviour guidelines are simple, sensible and easy to follow than a confusing kneejerk reaction to poor incidents at other grounds.

Spectators are encouraged to be good neighbours and to respect their small part in helping us achieve this. Whether attending a match at The Amex Stadium as an individual or with friends, family or others, it’s important to demonstrate genteel behavior towards visiting fans and staff, tenants and passers-by. The Amex Stadium plays a key role in the wider success of the club, and we want to make sure we all enjoy our time here.

We ask that you follow a few simple guidelines so you can experience all this wonderful stadium has to offer and everyone can enjoy the game. We’d like to make sure that you have a safe and enjoyable experience at the Amex Stadium for our next home match against Charlton Athletic. Let's keep the Amex Stadium one of the safest and most inviting in English football. And all year round there are plays, art exhibitions, gigs and events at many of the theatres, pubs, museums and galleries in the city.
